This is Josh's grandmother's recipe for brownies, which are really yummy. I don't necessary want to go head-to-head with Memaw Price's brownies, but this is another yummy grandmother's brownie recipe from which to choose.
3/4 Cup Shortening
2 Cups Sugar
4 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/4 Cup Karo Syrup
1/2 Cup Cocoa
1 1/2 Cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and beat until creamy; add Karo syrup and vanilla; sift dry ingredients together, then add to creamy batter; mix well. Bake in a greased and floured 9x12 pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
